Study of excited $$\varvec{\varXi }$$ baryons with the $$\overline{\text{ P }}$$ANDA detector

Abstract The study of baryon excitation spectra provides insight into the inner structure baryons. So far, most world-wide efforts have been directed towards $$N^*$$ N ∗ and $$\varDelta $$ Δ spectroscopy. Nevertheless, double triple strange spectrum independent information to spectra. future antiproton experiment $$\overline{\text{ P }}$$ P ¯ ANDA will provide direct access final states containing a $${\overline{\varXi }}\varXi Ξ pair, for which production cross sections up $$\mu \text{ b }$$ μ b are expected in $$\bar{\text{ p p reactions. With luminosity $$L=10^{31}$$ L = 10 31 cm $$^{-2}$$ - 2 s $$^{-1}$$ 1 first phase experiment, correspond rate $$\sim 10^6\, events }/\text{day ∼ 6 events / day . nearly $$4\pi 4 π detector acceptance, thus be hyperon factory. In this study, reactions type $$\rightarrow → }}^{+}$$ + $$\varXi ^{*-}$$ as well }}^{*+}$$ ^{-}$$ with various decay modes investigated. For exclusive reconstruction signal full tree fit is used, resulting efficiencies between 3 5%. This allows high statistics data collected within few weeks taking.
